Mr. Nobody

Welcome again people, to this week's exciting film!

Mr. Nobody is a mind blowing film. It plays with science, time and reality in an amazing way. I liked this movie a lot when I watched it, the idea of the story is great. It's one of those movies that you will want to watch twice to capture all the details in it, there is a lot of information (visual and auditory) going on all the time. Super interesting to watch!

Movie: Mr. Nobody
Year: 2009
Director: Jaco Van Dormael
Language: English
Running time: 141 min (2 hr 35 min)
Genre: Drama/Fantasy/Romance
Rating: R (I personally believe that it is okay for teens older than 15)

What is it about?
This movie is really hard to describe for me because there is so much happening in it. It is mainly a movie of decision, how a single decision can change the whole path of your life. There character, however, decides not to choose between two things and remains with open possibilities.

Why I recommend it:
Apart from the amazingly interesting plot and ideas it covers, it is super well done. The combination of film and special effects they applied transport you completely. Clarification: it is not an action movie, it's not that type of special effects. It is more about effects that create an environment.
What I definitely love the most is the love story in it, it seems so real! I developed an adoration towards the characters, in specific the two lovers (you will know which ones I mean when you watch it).
Fun Fact: Jared Leto is in it!
(The movie is on Netflix. Yay!)

I will keep posting through the week some pictures of my favorite scenes/moments/quotes in the movie, and any other thing about it I would like to share with you.

Hope you enjoy this amazing film as much as I have and leave me your comments about it!

Amélie week (post 3)

Last but not least for "Amélie' week," I have a cute list of the things Amélie Poulan enjoys doing the most:

1. Looking back at people's faces in a dark movie theatre room.

2. Noticing details in films that no one else sees.

3. Skipping stones.

4. Dipping fingers into a sack of grain.

5. Cracking the top layer of a crème brûlée.

6. Sweet revenge.

7. Hiding.

8. Asking herself silly questions.

9. Looking for shapes in the clouds.

10. Solving mysteries.

11. Romance.

For these and a lot more reasons I love Amélie. Such a wonderful character that has a little bit of everyone.

This has been all for this wonderful film. Check the blog for the next upload and I hope you enjoyed these last pictures.

Take care my bunnies (as Antonia asked me to say)!

Amélie week (post 2)

This movie has so many scenes/moments that I love that it has been hard for me to choose which ones to show. I looked at a bunch of images and I have decided to show you the following recopilation of images.

What I really like about the film is the lighting and color choice. Greens and reds are clearly predominant, followed by yellows, and some blues once in a while which create a huge contrast. It is such a magical and unreal world that I adore!

Something that got my attention is her apartment, it is all red! I love red, so this is fascinating for me.

Amélie week (post 1)

One of my favorite parts of the movie is definitely the beginning. With such awesome visuals, who wouldn't want to watch the titles? Seriously it is awesome.

This is me the other morning trying to be cool like Amélie Poulain... nope, not as nice as her.

Found this wonderful cartoon of the characters from the film!

Amélie

Hello, I have an exciting movie for you this week!

I chose one of my favorite films ever, it is definitely in my top 5. This movie is just perfect in all ways. The story, visuals, lighting, color, scenes, locations, events, dialogue, style, but what I like the most are the characters. This film has amazing characters! They are all different, interesting, and exotic. I can identify myself a lot in Amélie, the main character. She is sweet, curious and enjoys looking at little details. Details do matter! I am in love with this film and I know you will too.

Movie: Amélie
Year: 2001
Director: Jean-Pierre Jeunet
Language: French
Running time: 123 min (2 hr 3 min)
Genre: Romance/Comedy
Rating: R (I personally believe that it is okay for teens older than 15)

What is it about?
It is the story of a girl, Amélie, who enjoys of simple pleasures in life, like asking herself questions about the world. She finds a treasure and decides to help others. She looks for others to be happy, but doesn't satisfy her own happiness. She lives in her own magical world of fantasy, while she searches for love.

Why I recommend it:
This is a complicated story to talk about, since there are a lot of different things going on at the same time. It is a film that carries a lot of emotion. I love it. A lot.
It is a comedy and makes me laugh a lot, but at the same time it builds something deep in my heart. It is full of messages.
The cinematography is fabulous and every detail in the scenes matters. It is a movie of detail and I personally adore looking at them all!
Amélie is one of the best movies I have seen and probably will ever see.

Fun Fact: The soundtrack for this film is my favorite of all movie soundtracks. All of it is absolutely amazing.

(The movie is on Netflix. Yay!)

I will keep posting through the week some pictures of my favorite scenes/moments/quotes in the movie, and any other thing about it I would like to share with you.

Hope you enjoy this amazing film as much as I have and leave me your comments about it!

Cinema Paradiso week (post 3)

This week of "Cinema Paradiso" is over my dears, but our movie list continues.

Last for this amazing film, I want to share my favorite kisses by Salvatore and Anna. Cheers for their love!
What I love about this love story is that I can identify myself in Salvatore, I guess most of us can in some way. He is an endless romantic and a dreamer. Such a sweetheart!

Thank you for following this week's movie and stay tuned for the next one!
Hope you enjoy Cinema Paradiso as much as I will always do.

Greetings.

Cinema Paradiso week (post 1)

These two pictures are from some of the scenes I like the most, because of Toto's passion towards films. Such an adorable and amazing kid!

I love how his passion developed through the years to become something bigger! That is a great example of success when you follow your dreams.

Here is a link to one of the compositions from the soundtrack. Enjoy this beautiful melody!

Cinema Paradiso

Hello my dears,

I will begin this movie list with a film that got me fascinated since the first time I saw it, a couple of years ago. It will be my first recommendation because it talks about loving film, and that is exactly the feeling that I hope will get you after watching it.

Movie: Cinema Paradiso
Year: 1988
Director: Giuseppe Tornatore
Language: Italian
Running time: 124 min (2 hr 4 min)
Genre: Drama
Rating: PG

What is it about?
Salvatore, a famous movie director, remembers his childhood and how he got to love films. This memory is mostly involved around Alfredo, the projectionist of "Cinema Paradiso," who develops a great friendship with the kid by teaching him all he knows.

Why I recommend it:
I really love this movie mainly because the plot is so sweet and I can relate to it a lot. The story makes me cry (in a good way) and dream. There is also a romance in it that enriches the whole evolution of the movie. It is an older film but it is wonderful and super enjoyable!

Fun Fact: The soundtrack is beautiful! It makes me smile/cry every time I listen to it.

(It is on Netflix for any of those who have it. Many of the future movies I will post will be there too!)

I will keep posting through the week some pictures of my favorite scenes/moments/quotes in the movie, and any other thing about it I would like to share with you.

Hope you enjoy this amazing film as much as I have and leave me your comments about it!

Welcome my dears, to the world of Art and Film!

My name is Paula and I am passionate about Art. I got involved with cameras through photography first, but soon discovered video. It opened my horizons to experiment with visuals and movement.

I have a fascination for color and light, constantly looking for detail and pattern everywhere I go. The reflection of sunlight in water, the way light infiltrates through the leaves in trees; all these little details awakened my desire for experimenting and creating such beautiful images by myself.

I have created this blog because I believe that mostly teenagers don't appreciate Film enough, mostly because of lack of information. Most teens only know about Hollywood movies and don't ever watch other type of films. Adventure movies, Crime movies, Scary movies, Science Fiction movies and Comedy movies are the trend. I know, these movies can be awesome, but the bad thing about this is that people are missing a whole different side of Film that transmits different messages and images (Art movies and Independent movies).

I know most teenagers would say things like: "Those movies suck, they are weird and boring. Nothing happens in them." I've heard this about some of my favorite movies soooooo many times, even when the person's opinion is based on "what they heard from the neighbor's cousin's boyfriend's best friend."

I want people to give these Films a chance, watch them and look at them with different eyes than other movies. Do not expect some of the Independent movies to be as fast as some Hollywood movies, because most of them won't. However, that doesn't mean they are boring!

My goal is to encourage people to watch Independent and Art movies and teach them how to love them. If you already do, then this blog is perfect for you too!

I will be posting a movie weekly for you to watch whenever you have time. I will provide information about it, visuals and give and explanation of why I like this movie and why I recommend it. ALL THESE MOVIES WILL COME DIRECTLY FROM MY FAVORITE FILMS LIST! (Yes, I do have an official list.)

I will post films from different genders to fit different moods. I know how sometimes you don't really feel like watching something intense, so through the weeks there will be variety for those special occasions.
Note: some of these movies will be foreign, but believe me, even with subtitles they are still amazing!

Please leave comments, I would love to read them. Any movie suggestion would definitely go to my other official movie list: Films to Watch.
I will start posting soon this week and will keep it updated.

Thank you for joining this idea and hope you enjoy these amazing films!

Take care my dears.
